The tantalizing icon that you see on Facebook inviting you to “check in” at your current location has been applied for as a trademark by Facebook this month. According to the USPTO, On Wednesday, November 03, 2010, a U.S. federal trademark registration was filed for “F”. The mark consists of a design of a pink and white pointer above a representation of a map and a white lower-case letter F within a blue square all of which is centered on a gold background. A one word trademark to protect the map pin icon currently used by Facebook Places.
