EA reveals Online Pass System

Electronic Arts has announced that starting from the Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2011 this July, all EA Sports titles will come with an code that allows online play as well as access to extra DLC. Anyone who purchases the game second hand will have to pay an additional $10 fee to obtain a new code and use the game online.

“Online Pass is a game-specific, one-time registration code that grants gamers full online access, as well as additional bonus game content. An Online Pass will be included with the original retail purchase of the game. If the original access code has been redeemed (for example, if you pick up a used copy), additional Online Passes will be available for $10. Fans can also sign up for a free 7-day trial to experience Online Pass.” says, EA’s Peter Moore.

Apart from this, Electronic Arts (ERTS 18.24, +0.61, +3.46%) is also forecast to post earnings of 6 cents a share in the fourth quarter.
But coming to the real piece of news, Electronic Arts has filed 6 new trademark application as on Friday May 7th.

These applications were all filed by Vineeta Gajwani listed correspondent contact of Electronic Arts Inc., in the classes of goods and services of Entertainment services, namely, providing on-line computer games; Action figures; Board games; Hand held units; also, Caps; Jackets; and finally, Computer game software respectively.

This brings us to the question… Will EA be announcing these new products and services at their E3 conference scheduled to kick off on Monday of June 14 at 2.00pm PST? As the news goes executives John Riccitiello and John Schappert are front-men for the presentation.
